Responsible for training staff freelancers and interns on all graphics software programs and upgrades during my 20+ years at as an in-house Creative Director. Held twice-yearly Powerpoint training programs for Sales and Research staff to enable them to create more effective sales pitches.
Practical Graphics Software Education for Graphics Professionals:
As a hiring manager, frustrated with the skill level of job applicants, I embarked on a mission to teach not just the "how to's" of the programs, but also the "when to's" and "why-to's".
Taught beginning through advanced levels of Quark Xpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and PowerPoint at Association of Graphic Communications. Wrote course curriculum, class materials and handouts.
Worked with AGC's Education Director to develop Graphic Design Certificate course curriculum and skill evaluation exams.
Developed two-part course "Creating Effective Presentations" for business professionals. Part One focuses on developing the content, and skills for delivering effective presentations to small and large groups. Part Two concentrates on technical aspects of PowerPoint necessary to develop the slide show.
Taught Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced QuarkXpress and Illustrator to Adult Education Communication Design students at Pratt Institute's Manhattan location. These 10-week classes focused on creating a finished portfolio-quality project by semester's end. Wrote all course materials and handouts, and arranged field trips to local service bureaus and design studios.
Taught Quark, Illustrator, Photoshop on both Mac and PC, as well as Introduction to the Mac courses for PC Etcetera and CompUSA.
Consistently received excellent feedback and high praise from students in all locations. |
